The Value of Time “Time is money,“ many people say. "How much are you paid per hour?" That’s your worth. I say, "You can’t put a dollar value on a life." Money won’t heal a broken spirit or bring back the dead. We’ve Time for pills, Time for booze, Time for pornography, Time for violent television programs, Time for arguments and Time for negative criticism. IF the power of God could be put in a pill, How many people would take it?
No Time to spend a little Time with Jesus; yet, we can find the Time in a busy schedule to go to the bars, R rated movies, and rush to the convenience store for a pack of cigarettes; but, no Time for GOD. If you really want to do something, you CAN find the TIME.
Jesus paid the ultimate price and spent 33 years of His life to save us. So what is 10% of our Time, talent, and money by comparison? Mark 3:13 reads, Take heed, watch, and pray for ye know not when the TIME is.
The value we place on our soul is the value of our Time. Compare eternity in heaven or eternity in hell as opposed to our short life span on planet earth… Think about it. What is YOUR life worth? A couple of footnotes: What if God said, "Let me see if I can fit you into my busy schedule," what would you think about that? Too often "we" expect answers from GOD in a microwave minute yet too often “we” don’t give GOD even a microwave minute of our Time.
A demi-god is anything we place before GOD. Examples: anything or any activity we place before GOD or before going to church, allowing a non-Christian to occupy our Time foolishly, preferring a television or movie idol to take the place of GOD. That’s worshipping false gods (demi-gods) and that is what too many parents are allowing their children to do, worship their game-boys, toys, and vulgar music, etc.
Shrine Building: Shrine building is what many people do regarding demi-gods and past hurts, things or people placed before the true GOD. A past hurt can become a demi-god. Shrine building is a negative action, a rehearsing of bad experiences over and over until the bad experience becomes glorified and we become stagnated in God’s will for our lives. Think about these things too. Copyright © 1987 Carolyn Bigler Hebert
Edit added August 10, 2016: With all that is going on in this world now, I thought I would add more thoughts. Rather than spend a little time with Jesus taking the time to start the day with a cup of coffee and not use that time to pray or to read scripture, taking the time to spend time or gossip on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media, taking time to send hate emails, those that speak negatively about a person or persons faith or denomination, they spread hatred and fear, judging when as Christians we are not to judge, Taking time to judge a person because of how they dress, how they look or what they do that is different from our family traditions or we just do not understand, Preferring to skip spending time with the Lord so as not to miss a favorite Television program, Believing what a person says they believe today is how they will still believe tomorrow, the next day, or a year into their future or at their death. Things change, people's beliefs change in time. That skate board made from boards and skate wheels in the forties has been replaced by a skate board with wheels and lights.
Time does not change things or people. Things and people change in time. Time is merely a microsecond, a second, a minute, an hour, a day, a month, a year or more in our lives spent here on planet earth. This list could go on to infinity because thoughts never truly stop. Too many people being born and dying for thoughts to stop. We still practice and believe some of the beliefs our parents and our ancestors taught us, what they believed. Choosing to "sleep in" on the Sabbath because that's the only day for rest in ones schedule, then mow the lawn before or after lunch/dinner or do any of the above things listed. The lawn may need attention which is fine; however, first things first. Isn't that the way some people set their priorities with their goals for the day, the week, the month, the year and so on?
What is the number one thing in a Christians life? I say Christian because many people believe in the Lord, even the devil believes. Not all do the Lord's will. We all slip at some point in our lives. Even the writer of these statements is not perfect. The Sabbath IS the Day of Rest but is to be devoted to our Lord. First things first. Confess and ask for forgiveness for wrongs committed, remember the sin of omission. Not praying for ourselves, not taking care of ourselves is a sin of omission. Remember also 'when I was naked you did not clothe me, when I was hungry you did not feed me.' Matthew 25:31-46 The best witness we can be is to 'walk the talk' and be an example. Think on these things. Copyright © Carolyn B. Hebert 2016
More food for thought: Some people say or claim we all worship the same God. That's wrong on many accounts. Even within ones own faith, we do not all serve the same God because we place some of the things listed in this "poem" first and/or foremost in our lives. Those things become our god. That will be yet another webpage.
Special note: Every day somebody does something that inspires you or makes you feel good about yourself. Take time to thank them. A handwritten note would be something super special. They are almost obsolete. Everybody is worth the time, the note, the envelope and the stamp. Every day there is something that inspires you or encourages you. Start a thank you jar to God. Thank God for that special attention. Write it on a note to God and put it in that jar. At the end of the month count how many you have collected and count your blessings! If only a few, then pay closer attention to your surroundings. There are plenty of blessings. We have a beautiful oak tree in our back yard on the hill. It's well over a hundred years old. What a blessing! We have a Sago Palm that was a pup my husband, Alfred, cut from my sister's and brother-in-law's huge Sago Palm. On the next visit all of the pups had been cut off by their lawn service. What a blessing we were able to get one before that. We named it Miss Molly after my sister. That happened several months ago but I was reminded of it today. I believe that is called "Take Time to Smell the Roses." I am blessed with the ability to share my talent of writing with you and to build these pages. How about sending me an email telling me what blessings you received today? Copyright © Carolyn B.
